How referral codes work

Everything you need to know about referral codes, circles, and keeping the bonuses between friends.

What is a referral code?

A referral code (or invite link) is a company's way of rewarding word-of-mouth: when a new customer signs up with your code, the company gives one or both of you a bonus — cash, credits, free months, or early access. Almost every bank, fintech, delivery, and subscription service has one.

What is Perko?

Perko is where friends pool their referral codes. Instead of digging through group chats or using a stranger's code from a coupon-dump site, your circle keeps everyone's codes in one place — so when someone signs up for something, a friend gets the bonus, not a bot.

What's a circle?

A circle is a small private group — roommates, family, coworkers, the group chat. Everyone's codes are visible inside the circle, new codes notify the group, and the Circle Pot tracks what you've all earned through each other. You can also ask your circle when you need a code nobody's posted yet.

Is Perko free?

Yes — completely free. The bonuses come from the companies whose codes you share, and they go to you and your friends, not to us.

How do I share my referral code so it actually gets used?

Post it once in your circle. Every circle-mate sees it whenever they need that service, it shows up in the weekly digest, and anyone in the circle can grab it from their phone in two taps — no more retyping it into the group chat every few months.

Do people see my email or personal details?

No. Members see the username and display name you choose — never your email. Private codes are only visible to the circles you put them in, and circle invite previews never reveal the codes inside.

What are points for?

Points track your contribution: posting codes, confirming you used someone's code, and answering a circle-mate's request all earn points. They power the leaderboard and levels — bragging rights within your circles.

What happens when someone uses my code?

They confirm it in Perko, you get notified, the use is added to your earnings and your circle's pot, and the code's "working" status is updated for everyone else. The reward itself comes from the company, exactly as if they'd used your code directly.
